I highly recommend you read the comments below this article. The Muslim community gets a bashing, and someone compares the saga to "putting a pig in your window when you have Jewish neighbours". 'Harmless toys' causing a major debate? Only in Britain....
To be fair, I've seen a couple of shop windows now filled from top to bottom with golly-wogs and they are blatantly designed to cause offence. How do I know? One was a butchers, the other was a post office and neither actually sold the toys but they did have leaflet dispensers for the BNP on the counter. The butcher's was particularly offensive as the display continued inside and had a number of the poor dollies hanging from a rail with meat hooks through their necks.
And that's 100% of FACT.
