No Christmas tree anger

Derby Telegraph: Villagers complain over lack of Christmas tree

Is it me, or do Christmas news stories get earlier every year?

No it is not you. Christmas stories now begin the day after Halloween. Back in the day, it used to start the day after Thanskgiving. But since retailers do not sell much Thanksgiving notions and apparrel and do not have to restock and redecorate their entire shops for it, they want to get an earlier start and milk the bejesus out of Christmas binge-buying.

I lived in Derby. Not many people celebrated Thanksgiving there. Not much to give thanks for.
