I'd start on her plates and slowly strip her of the lot.
I would suggest a walk around the local travellers site with a metal detector may bring some results. Not that I'm suggesting these law-abiding, tax-paying, school-attending, community-spirited residents would have enything to do with it. It would just be coincidence as they have never been known to be involved in anything like that in the past.
