    Run your own air conditioner if you have one. White noise from an AC unit or air purifier cancels out foreign noise. Not AC weather? Turn it on in fan mode. I should know because I employ that strategy in order to cancel out the noise from early-morning slamming car doors, whining schoolchidren and the refuse collectors.
